16" GLADDIE
Marks: Gladdie//Copr. By//Helen W. Jensen//Germany on head. Solid dome bisque flange head, set brown squinty eyes, light hint of brows, open smiling mouth with four upper teeth and spring tongue, molded and painted hair, cloth torso with composition arms and legs, disk joints at shoulders and hips. Dressed in adorable factory pink silk dress with white lace-trimmed organdy overdress, large pink silk ribbons at waist and shoulders, homemade pants, replaced cotton socks, oilcloth shoes. Tiny flakes repaired on upper and lower rims right eye, finish of composition arms and legs has cracks, flakes off finish of legs, finish of both feet damaged and discolored, probably from moisture. A very rare fired bisque version of the popular character, with laughing eyes and a face bubbling with personality. $4495

16" KESTNER XI
Marks: XI on back of head. Bisque socket head with bulbous neck, brown sleep eyes, feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, closed shapely mouth with accent line between lips, antique curly mohair wig on antique cardboard pate, original heavy jointed Kestner Schmitt-type body with separate balls at shoulders and elbows, cupped hands. Dressed in wonderful boy’s suit with white shirt, black pants with matching formal jacket, black silk tie in large bow, antique knit socks and antique black leather shoes. Tiny inherent speck above top lip; body is generally excellent with normal wear at joints and on hands. A very desirable early Kestner with outstanding and expressive modeling and decoration, early heavy body in exceptionally nice condition. $4850

12" NOCKLER & TITTEL CHARACTER
Marks: N&T1//2 on head, Germany//3/0 stamped in red on lower back. Bisque socket head, blue intaglio eyes looking right, red lid line over eyes, single stroke brows, closed mouth with lighter area between lips, molded and painted blond hair, jointed wood and composition body. Dressed in antique white low waisted dress, antique underclothing including corset, new socks and shoes. Head is perfect, arms and legs repainted. A pert and very rare character made by one of Germany’s smaller companies. Perfect for the collector who loves an appealing character face! $2350

12" K * R 101 MARIE
Marks: K * R//101//30 on head. Bisque socket head, painted blue eyes, single stroke brows, closed pouty mouth, original mohair wig put into coiled braids, fully jointed wood and composition K * R body. Dressed in factory red/white dress with jacket, factory one piece underwear, factory half slip, undershirt, cotton socks and black leather shoes. Small wig pulls back and right side of head under wig, finish of body is worn, cracks in finish of lower legs, right thumb replaced. A wonderful cabinet size example of this desirable character, with a fully jointed body and dressed in factory clothing. $2695

15" GEBRUDER HEUBACH 7647
Marks: 5//76(sunburst mark)47//Germany on head. Solid dome bisque socket head, blue intaglio eyes with well-modeled lids, two tone single stroke brows, open/closed smiling mouth with molded laugh lines at eyes, molded and painted blond hair, jointed wood and composition body with jointed wrists. Nicely dressed in new two-piece boy’s outfit with hat, one piece knit underwear, antique socks, oilcloth two snap shoes. Finish of body is very worn, with a “washed” look, minor repair around neck socket of body, repair on left lower leg, right index finger replaced, hands touched-up. A rare and very appealing character with realistic features and a happy, little boy face. $1795

12" BAHR & PROSCHILD 277 INDIAN
Marks: 277//Dep. on head. Reddish-brown bisque socket head, set brown eyes, feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, open mouth with four upper teeth, lip color, nostril dots and eye dots not fired-in color, pierced ears, replaced mohair wig, composition body jointed at shoulders and hips, molded and painted tan shoes. Dressed in original Indian costume, gold hoop earrings. Minor inherent black specks at side of left cheek, tiny line of lip color missing, hands and feet touched-up, paper headband repaired and missing feathers. A rare and original example of brown bisque doll dressed as an American Indian. $795

30" K * R GIRL, FLAPPER BODY
Marks: K * R//Simon & Halbig//Germany// 76 on head. Bisque socket head, brown sleep eyes with real lashes, feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, open mouth with four upper teeth, new human hair wig, jointed composition “flapper” body with high knee joints and diagonal hip joints, separate balls at shoulders, elbows and knees, jointed wrists. Dressed in antique clothing of pale pink cotton dress with lace and ribbon trim, chemise, pink silk pants, half slip, silk stockings, brown leather shoes. A few real lashes missing on each eye, body has excellent finish with normal light soil and marks. This is a very pretty German girl in a nice large size. She is well dressed in all antique clothing, and has the very desirable flapper body. $995

Marks: 5//D//(mold numbers on each side of Heubach square mark illegible, but may be 9390)//Germany on head. Bisque socket head, blue intaglio eyes, single stroke brows, closed mouth, molded and painted hair held back on right side with molded blue bow, jointed wood and composition body with straight wrists, wooden upper arms and upper legs. Dressed in light blue antique dress with ruffle trim on bodice, new slip and pants in the antique style, new socks and shoes. A few tiny specks in bisque, head sets low in neck socket of body, several paint strips flaked off upper arms and legs. A darling child with a somber face and desirable molded hair with blue bow. $495

5" K * R CHILD
Marks: Halbig//K*R//13 on head. Bisque socket head, set blue eyes, single stroke brows, painted upper and lower lashes, closed mouth, original mohair wig, five piece composition body. Dressed in original navy blue skirt, faded rose colored knit sweater and matching cap, original underclothing, no socks or shoes. Excellent condition; coloring of sweater and cap faded, one moth hole in skirt high in front under sweater. A darling diminutive German child in exceptionally nice condition, with totally original clothing. A real little treasure! $550
