![]() ![]() About Shari McMasters Shari McMasters has been in the doll world in some fashion since 1976. Always a doll lover, she began collecting dolls when she bought souvenir dolls on trips to France. When her mother gave Shari her old doll, collecting began in earnest. When she joined a doll club in Syracuse NY, where she lived at the time, she met her mentor, Gladyse Hilsdorf. A long time collector, Gladyse had thousands of dolls, and gladly shared her dolls and knowledge with Shari, who spent a lot of time at her house, learning as much as she could about dolls so rare she may never see examples of them again. During this time, Shari learned much about doll repair from a friend who owned a doll shop in Syracuse. She also bought and sold dolls as a dealer to help support her hobby, which by this time included French and German dolls. After moving back home to Ohio and selling a small business, Shari and her husband Jim started McMasters Doll Auctions in 1989. The business quickly grew, and soon the company had taken its place in the international market. During this time, Shari had the opportunity to handle many very rare dolls, as well as thousands of dolls of all types, from those sold uncatalogued to high quality antique and collectible dolls sold in their full color catalogs. Several years ago, Mark Harris learned about the doll auction business by becoming an apprentice auctioneer under Jim. Eventually Jim and Shari sold the auction business to Mark. Knowing the business was in good hands, Shari left the business in November 2005 to pursue other interests in the doll world. Currently, Shari is again a dealer in all types of dolls from antique to modern, with an emphasis on quality antique dolls. She has a shop which is open by appointment. She sells dolls through her shop, on the internet and at shows. She sets up at the Eastern National Doll Show in Gaithersburg, MD four times a year, as well as other shows in the East and Midwest. The Sunbonnet Baby Doll Shoppe carries dolls from the 30's, 40's and 50's, and of course quality antique dolls, both French and German. There are also accessories to complement the dolls, and clothes for those needing a new wardrobe. Minor repairs, such as restringing and setting eyes, are also done for those needing some TLC. For collectors needing a little extra time to add that special doll to their collection, dolls can be purchased on layaway. Give Shari a call at 740-607-8157 or email her at sharimcmasters@gmail.com to answer any questions you may have. | Return Home | French Dolls | German Dolls | German Babies and Toddlers | Vintage Collectible Dolls | Modern Dolls | All Bisque | Accessories | Other Antique Dolls | About Us | Contact Us | Lighting Features LED and Black Lights | |
